Since day 1 working as HO, my seniors will always talk about how busy and tired it is in medical, no matter how fast or efficient u work u will not be able to eat because it is so busy, and how disaster the ward can be,until is it normal for you to go back 2 - 3 hours late because to many patients and work to be settled. I cant sleep the night before entering medical department.

Day 1. What my senior said, actually it is true! Medical ward it is so busy like crazy, once you punch in, you will be running non stop, round with bosses, take blood, send to lab ,trace result, request scan, round again trace report, clerk new case, take blood, transfuse blood, doing discharges.

There is one time me and my boss were so busy , our cubicle was full with extensions,i dont know when my boss went down and buy a giant karipap and he pull me to pantry. "Syazwan nah eat it, i belanja you. If pikir pasal kerja sampai bila pon u x kan makan".

"wah boss thank you! " .we quickly eat and continue to work again.

He is so far one of my fav boss until now, always give me advice, support, guidance. If u have this kind of boss, please take the opportunity to spend as much time as u can with them, you will learn a lot.

Eventhough medical is very busy, but working with good bosses and good colleagues will make you enjoy no matter how full and disaster the ward is or how busy you will be. That is why one of my dua is," ya Allah please give me good bosses and good colleagues."

Night shift in medical is the scariest shift ,where you will be working alone covering at least 2 wards and if you are lucky you need to cover one ward only. How busy is the night shift??

by the way waktu siang tu still kena keja 7am- 5pm, rehat kejap for 4 hours, balik mandi makan baru nak rebah badan dah malam, then go back at 9 pm, so masuk ja keja tengok board dah ada 7-8 case pending admission, which you must prepare mentally and physically to settle all of them later.

So start lari balik sana sini peluh tengah- tengah malam buta, round dengan bos, ambil darah patient, attend patient collapse, baru nak duduk seminit new case pulak mai, clerk lagi ambil darah lagi, sambi clerk, patient sebelah sesak nafas, patient belakang complaint sakit, Lari sat attend patient sesak nafas tadi, pergi pulak tengok patient complaint sakit, mintak nurse bagi ubat, sambung clerk patient tadi, tiba-tiba boss pulak call , patient wad sebelah collapse nak kena CPR, lari pula pergi wad sebelah, habis CPR sambung balik clerk.

Settle clerk , ambil coming morning blood pulak 30 patient, average sorang patient 2 botol, dah 60 botol, pergi lari hantar dekat lab, tengok luar dah cerah, start keja balik mcm biasa, pukul 7 pagi review patient, then round dengan boss, lari sana sini sampai pkul 2pm. Baru boleh balik. Kalau bernasib baik balik on time, kalau kurang baik pukul berapa pon wallahualam, sampai la kerja siap.

But there is one time when i work night shift, i entered the ward with preparedness, then i looked at the board no pending admission. I asked nurse," kak tak ada pending ka", "Dr!! tak yah la mintak patient mai" "Erk okok moga tenang malam ni amin" and untill 6 am tomorrow morning zero admisson!

Alhamdulillah after 4 months, thank you medical, you also trained me well! So well i did feel a bit like a real doctor now. Medical, survived! 'never ever underestimate ur ability, u might surprise how capable and how good u are actually.'
